Quarantine Weight Gain

If you’re already struggling with weight gain, the health fear of Covid-19, financial hardship, general insecurity along with the boredom of being quarantined in your home only exacerbates the weight problem.

Fear/stress and boredom drive emotional eating and weight gain.

Comfort food temporarily distracts you from underlying fears and other stressful sources of discomfort. The hormone cortisol which is released during times of stress causes your body to retain fat.

If this weren’t enough, excess weight can diminish your immune system at a time when it’s most needed.

What to do?

If stress causes weight gain then clearly diminishing stress is vital.

Check! How do I do that?

Hypnosis is one tool that produces the opposite of stress. In hypnosis your body moves from the sympathetic mode of the autonomic nervous system (stress/fight or flight) to the parasympathetic mode (rest and digest).

Hypnosis also creates a state of hyper-learning where new thoughts and ideas are much more readily accepted by your subconscious mind than would normally be the case.

In times like these, reinforcing ideas of:

  • Safety

  • Calm

  • Peace

  • Relaxation

  • All is Well

Convinces the subconscious mind that it’s indeed safe to dial back the stress along with the weight-retainer hormone cortisol. This takes the punch out of the need to feed and helps you get control of your eating habits.

Simultaneously, new ideas introduced to the subconscious mind for weight control can further help you slim down:

  • High self esteem

  • Following through on health commitments to lose weight

  • Being kinder to yourself

  • Drinking more water

  • “Surfing the Urge”

  • Releasing the Old Weight

  • Eating healthier food
